Welcome to the Website of
The Sperrin Choir
The Sperrin Choir is a 50 person, cross-community choir based in Mid Ulster in Northern Ireland. It meets weekly from January to May and from September to December to practise for concert performances. We have sung at venues across Northern Ireland and the republic, as well as in France. We have a long-standing Twinning relationship, through the former Cookstown District Council, with the Plena Voce Chorale in Plerin-Sur-Mer/St. Brieuc in Brittany, Northern France.
We welcome singers of all ages from 16 to whatever..

The Great American Songbook
What a Night!
The Great American Songbook played to a full house on 27th April last. A very enjoyable, though challenging programme of music from Cole Porter to Stephen Schwartz. Along with a wide ranging set of songs from the full choir, we had a great rendition of Oh, What a Beautiful Mornin', from Peter Lant -below-, a couple of novelties from an elderly trio, and a wonderful set of songs by the terrific Sperrin Kidz!
The Choir heads to Essex this weekend (4th to 7th May) to meet up again with the fabulous Swift Singers, whom we will join for a concert on Saturday evening. Looking forward to a bit of less controlled singing afterwards too!
Our Elvis Programme got one last hugely enjoyable outing, at a Charity Fundraising event for MacMillan Cancer Support, at the Christ Church Hall in Castledawson on Friday 9th February. A great night, with a full house, and a very successful fundraiser for a vital cause.
Our New CD, "Lift Me Higher" is now on Sale!
We were also thrilled to launch our Elvis CD that night!! We are delighted with the results of our efforts in the studio, and indebted to the brilliant musicians who gave their superb talents to the tracks: Gail Evans, Jonny Montgomery, Andrew Hughes, David Bell and Drew Skinner. Copies of the CD can be purchased for £10. Click here to send an email with your details
We were delighted to join Kilraughts Church in their service in March, where the Elvis Gospel set got one last airing. Again a joyful evening with a very appreciative congregation.

Poster for Parkanaur Concert
The range of music performed is extensive, as our librarian will attest! Extracts from all the major Broadway shows,
compilations (eg James Bond themes, greatest hits of particular artists), folk music from around the world, pop and jazz,
negro spirituals and special Christmas music, both sacred and light-hearted. Our Musical Director, Sam Cuddy, is well-versed in sourcing music and compiling programmes which delight local audiences.
But what really sets this choir apart is camaraderie and enjoyment. Sam conducts weekly practices in a light-hearted atmosphere with plenty of banter. Alongside Sam, as conductor/arranger, the choir is most fortunate to have the continued dedication of Gail Evans as accompanist, despite her work with the Belfast Philharmonic and numerous other commitments. Gail, like many other members, retains an allegiance to the choir, where she first performed. She is now also very committed to the Sperrin Kidz choir, which is fortunate to also have Caroline Jones as Musical Director.
